Information

CWU’s train kiln was built in 2010 as part of a kiln-building course led by Professor Stephen Robison and funded through a C. Farrell Fine Arts & Research Scholarship awarded to BFA student Ryan Brislawn. Constructed in the courtyard behind Randall Hall, it became fully operational by Winter 2011, when the first firings took place. A protective steel roof was added in 2011 with support from an Artist Trust grant. Work fired in the kiln was featured in the “12 Wood-Fire Kilns of the Northwest” exhibition at NCECA 2012. The kiln remains an active part of CWU’s ceramics program.
